Foggy windows are a major safety hazard

On Behalf of | Feb 11, 2022 | Car Accidents |

Drivers must be able to see the road clearly as they drive. Anything that prevents that from happening can lead to crashes so it’s imperative that they always keep the windshield clean. Sometimes, a driver will start out on their journey with clear windows only to realize that they’re starting to fog up.

Clearing the fog off the windows must be a priority when this occurs. During the winter months, the warmer air in the vehicle and the cold air outside of the vehicle can cause fog. In order to clear the fog, you’ll have to turn on the air conditioner, even though you probably don’t want crisp air in the vehicle.

Strategically clearing fog is best

You might be tempted to wipe the windows to clear the fog, but this is one of the last resort measures. When you use something to wipe the glass, you can leave streaks. You may not notice the streaks until sunlight or headlights hit the area. At that point, you might realize that you can’t see through the streaks.

Using the defrost mode might not work, either. You may be able to encourage defogging by opening a window just a little to let some fresh air in. This also gives moist air a chance to escape.

Motor vehicle crashes can lead to very serious injuries. If you’re injured because another driver was negligent, you have the option to seek compensation for the financial damages you’re facing. These cases can be rather complex, so be sure you have someone on your side who knows how to show the necessary points of your case. New Jersey law sets time limits for these cases, so be sure to get the claim filed quickly.
